Second Dragon announces investment in Matchstick Monkey

Dragons’ Den investor and healthcare specialist Tej Lalvani is the second Dragon to invest in Matchstick Money, the award-winning innovative teething and baby products brand.

Tej will be joining fellow Dragon, Touker Suleyman, to lend his skills to the brand’s success, capitalising on his position as one of the UK’s leading experts on retailing health product and his unrivalled knowledge of the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries.

Touker and his team have already built the business into an extremely successful venture, with several award wins under its belt and a focus on a focus to expanding its retail offering into new sectors. This latest move demonstrates the teething brand’s commitment to entering the international pharmaceutical industry.

“I’m looking forward to working with the team,” commented Tej. “With my experience and contacts, I’m keen to create new valuable inroads for the brand, including tapping into new international markets.”

He continued: “[Matchstick Monkey is] a really exciting brand to be collaborating with and one that I have had my eye on for a while. I’m delighted to be teaming up again with Touker and the team – we are a powerful partnership and I know that with our combined forces, we will take Matchstick Monkey to the next level.”

Touker agreed that the announcement is great news for the brand, saying: “In a short period of time, my team and I have achieved phenomenal results for the now award-winning brand. With today’s news announcing Tej coming on board, our sights are set firmly on even greater triumph.”

“I have been overwhelmed by all the success Matchstick Monkey has enjoyed to-date,” added owner and inventor Katie Windridge. “From humble beginnings, where the idea first took shape at my kitchen table, through to being stocked in key retailers across the UK and worldwide. It’s been beyond my wildest dreams.”
