The baby sleep company behind the portable baby rocker, Rockit, was presented with the award at the FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards, three years after it won its first award for export.
The award ceremony took place at Weston-super-Mare’s Winter Gardens Pavilion and celebrated the best small businesses from the South West region. Rockit fought off stiff competition from other businesses which have also had considerable success in export markets. The company will now go through to the UK national FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards 2022 final in May.
Dr Nick Webb, the Rockit’s inventor, commented: “Exporting our products from day one has been pivotal to the success of the business. We are now distributing to over 40 countries across six continents and it’s a real honour to be recognised as the International Business of the Year by the Federation of Small Businesses.”
Sam Holliday, the FSB’s development manager for Bristol, Bath and Gloucestershire, added: “Rockit are an outstanding local business with a great back story and an even better product. In what was a record breaking amount of entries to this year’s awards their spirit, entrepreneurship and innovation stood our and led to them being on two category shortlists.
“To win one of them – the best international business – and to do so for a second time shows that this is a great business for the whole of the South West to be proud of.”
Matt Dyson, Rockit ceo, concluded: “We are delighted to pick up this award and would like to thank all our distributors and retailers around the world for helping to make Rockit such a successful brand internationally – this is their award too.”
