Huggle enjoys benefits of Royal Baby fever

Nursery retailer Huggle has been enjoying the benefits of Royal Baby fever, following its appearance on ITV’s Tonight programme Harry & Meghan: A Royal Baby.

The show aired on Thursday 18 April 2019 and saw Huggle being used as the location for an interview with Emma Kendall, editor of Mother & Baby magazine.

Emma, who was introduced as ‘a woman with her finger on the pulse of all things baby-related’, spoke about the way Harry and Meghan are expected to be bringing up their first-born and the influence that will have on baby product trends in the future.

“They are going to be a breath of fresh air,” she began. “It will be quite exciting to see what modern trends they pick up on, because whatever they do, we’re all going to be doing.”

The ‘must-have essentials’ that Emma picked out from Huggle’s offering included eco-friendly bedding made from bamboo or coconut, gender-free colourful clothing in bright patterns and babycarriers – particularly those which can be used by both parents.

Companies which got airtime included Panda Kids, Skip Hop, Micro Scooter, Janod, Baby Bjorn and Stokke.

“It is only when we saw the response we have had to appearing on the ITV Tonight’s Harry & Meghan documentary that we realised just how much interest there is in this royal baby,” said founder Jason Heller.

“Within minutes of the show going out we saw a huge increase in hits on our website and with customers searching specifically for items that appeared in the show. Parts of the programme naturally focused on the media circus that follows such events, so it is easy to lose sight of just what a great example of modern Britain this will be and as such the benefits for the UK nursery industry and so many of the great baby brands and products based here. With so much negative news currently circulating in the media its a great opportunity to give us all a boost.”

Despite the desire for information about the pregnancy and upcoming birth, Harry and Meghan have chosen to keep most of the details private, using their new instagram account to reveal that they’ll only be announcing the birth after they’ve had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.
