Mothercare to open new Truro store

Despite the recent profit warning and recent rescue talks with banks, nursery and maternity retailer Mothercare will be opening a new store in the popular Cornish town of Truro, at Treliske Retail Park.

The company has announced that it will be opening a ‘specialist concept store’ in a large unit on Treliske Retail Park, across the road from Royal Cornwall Hospital. Refurbishment work is due to get under way in April and May, with the opening date currently expected to be in June.

A smaller Mothercare store is already based in Truro town centre, but the unit at Treliske is considerably larger.

A statement on the Mothercare website read: “We are opening a brand-new specialist store on Treliske Retail Park. We are so excited as it will be a brand-new specialist concept store, incorporating all our latest design and equipment and it will be fully digitally enabled.”

Mothercare has not yet said how many jobs would be created or whether the existing store would remain open. However, it is already advertising for jobs at the new store, including management and sales staff.
