Real Nappy Week – which is taking place from Monday 14 April to Sunday 30 April – will once again focus the attentions of cloth nappy companies as it seeks to raise awareness of the benefits of reusables.
Real Nappy Week inspires parents, brands and retailers to come together to help increase the awareness of environmentally-friendly products and educate parents about the environmental, health and cost-saving benefits of choosing products like these.
No longer a ‘niche’ product, reusable nappies and other associated products are now available in a range of supermarkets across the UK including ASDA, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Aldi, Waitrose and Ocado, and sales and awareness are continually increasing.
“Many mainstream retailers now understand the importance of offering parents environmentally friendly alternatives in the baby ‘change-time’ category,” said Joreen Singh, marketing manager at Bambino Mio, one of the UK’s most widely-used cloth nappy brands.
According to Bambino Mio’s research;
* Some 8 million plastic nappies are thrown into UK landfill each day.
* Around 4% of all household waste in the UK is plastic nappies.
* It takes plastic nappies around 500 years to decompose.
Bambino Mio will be teaming up with a number of key retailers to help publicise the reusable nappy cause throughout Real Nappy Week.
