Mamas and Papas explores potential sale

Nursery retail chain Mamas & Papas has appointed adviser Deloitte to explore a sale of the business as it continues to face difficult times on the UK’s high street.

The appointment comes just five years after Deloitte handled a CVA for the retailer in 2014, which then saw Mamas & Papas closing down half of its UK store portfolio.

Following that restructuring – which also saw private equity firm BlueGem investing £20 million into the business – Mamas & Papas now has 31 stores and more than 100 distributors in the UK and Ireland.

For the year ended April 2018, Mamas & Papas revealed annual losses for a second year, with sales falling by £8.2 million (compared to £10.3 million in 2017).

Earlier this year Mamas & Papas entered into a partnership with John Lewis which saw the leading baby brand offering a curated range of its travel products instore and online.
