“Smarter design will lead the way”: talking to Cybex’s Luke Burns

PreschoolNews.net spoke to Luke Burns, general manager at Cybex, about the company’s latest technological developments and what’s in store for 2019.

How has your mobility business performed over the last 12 months?

“The mobility industry has performed really well for us over the last year. Cybex has launched some great pushchairs including the Balios S, our robust and stylish pushchair and the Eezy S Twist, our award-winning rotatable seat pushchair, which has already performed exceptionally well in the UK. Along with our existing pushchair collection, including our Mios and Priam, we have been able to expand our pushchair offering for parents.”

What do you think is the single most important thing parents are looking for?

“We don’t believe there is one single thing that parents look for when it comes to choosing a pushchair. We understand that everyone has different needs, but we believe we have something to suit everyone. Parents do a lot of research beforehand, they look for functional features, but design and price point are also major factors when it comes to purchase decisions.”

Tell us how you meet the demands of modern parents across the mobility market?

“Ultimately, we listen to parents’ needs. We understand that mums and dads want a comfortable, convenient, and stylish pushchair that makes being mobile with a baby easy and keeps them secure. With the baby market rapidly changing, we are continuously using our in-house expertise to develop pushchairs that we believe will offer parents the complete package so they do not have to compromise on their personal style or functional requirements.”

What key attributes does your product need?

“Our principal is to combine exceptional design, maximum safety and functionality – three key elements that we believe parents look for when choosing a pushchair. We combine this with colour trends and fashions inspired by the latest catwalk runways.”

What new launches do you have in store for  2019?

“We have been working on something really exciting which will revolutionise the pushchair market and make lives even easier for parents while ensuring a comfortable ride for children. Over the next few years, we think smarter design will lead the way and technology will start to play a bigger part.”

What is your hero product for 2018?

“Our hero product has to be the Eezy S Twist. It’s an ideal companion for travel and everyday use in the city thanks to its lightweight and compact design and has been developed with a wide range of smart features. It has already taken off in the market and we’re excited to see how it continues to perform in 2019.”
