The Entertainer opens its first store in Spain; extends Autism Friendly Quiet Hour in UK

First branded store in Spain follows a rebrand of its Poly outlet in Valencia; in the UK, popular Quiet Hour will run every day in 171 stores.

Toy retailer The Entertainer has opened its first The Entertainer-branded store in Spain, following a rebrand of its Poly store in Valencia.

After acquiring Spanish toy retailer Poly in 2018, The Entertainer has rebranded the Poly store in Valencia with the full brand experience of The Entertainer and opened its doors to the public on 10 May. A full grand opening event is planned for 22 May.

The Valencia store will adopt many of the UK retail practices such as demonstrations and character meet and greets (in line with current social distancing guidelines).

The Entertainer has further plans to introduce more stores across the Spanish regions.

“This is an extremely exciting moment for The Entertainer,” enthused Gary Grant, founder and executive chairman of The Entertainer. “We have been operating in Spain through our Poly stores since 2018 and heavily investing into the Spanish market but now is the perfect time for us to introduce The Entertainer to the people of Spain.

“We have spent 40 years perfecting our unique customer experience and we are excited to bring this full experience to Spain for families to enjoy. The Entertainer Valencia is a significant landmark for our operations in Spain and we’re excited to develop and grow The Entertainer further across the region over the coming months and years.”

Meanwhile, back in the UK, The Entertainer has extended its Autism Friendly Quiet Hour to run every morning, making stores even more accessible to those who prefer a calmer retail experience.

The popular Quiet Hour will now run every day in every one of the retailer’s 171 stores across the country. The initiative aims to create a calmer shopping environment for autistic people and for any shoppers who find the hustle and bustle of shopping an uncomfortable experience. After previously running on Saturdays and during the school holidays, Quiet Hour will now be operating every morning for the first hour of opening.

In addition, The Entertainer has also been awarded an Autism Friendly Award by the National Autistic Society for its commitment to supporting its autistic customers and their families, including providing additional staff training to help store teams to support customers who may be overwhelmed by shopping in busy stores.

“We are extremely proud of our Quiet Hour and the difference this has made to so many people across the country and we are delighted to now take our commitment to supporting our autistic customers and their families a step further,” continued Gary. “To be awarded the Autism Friendly Award by the National Autistic Society in addition to this is another extremely proud moment for The Entertainer. We will continue to work hard to make our stores a welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy.”
