Playmobil 1.2.3 celebrates 30 years in the UK toy market

New imaginative play ideas will be launching in March in the range aimed at children aged 1½ to 4 years.

2021 marks the 30th anniversary of Playmobil 1.2.3 in the UK toy market, with the company launching a host of new products to mark the milestone.

A range of new imaginative play ideas will be launching in March in the range, which is aimed at children aged 1½ to 4 years.

With new packaging, the sets will highlight three learning stages, with each building on the previous, promoting development in a targeted and fun way through the first years of life. In addition, they will offer helpful information for parents when shopping for suitable toys.

The range will have a strong marketing campaign using TV, digital and social channels across the year. Along with this, tie-ups with family and lifestyle bloggers are planned to emphasis the new messaging and packaging.

There will also be in-store point of sale and digital assets to support the theme throughout the year.

New products will include the Animal Train. The animals can move individually or can be connected into a long train, with children able to tell their own stories by assigning pictures to the various animals.

My Take Along Preschool, meanwhile, will enable experiences such as playing on the seesaw or the slide and riding on the roundabout with friends to be re-enacted – with the entire contents fitting inside the carry case.

A new fairy play theme will also be introduced with products including the Unicorn Carriage with Fairy and the Fairy Playground.

Rounding off the novelties, there are various figure sets including the Construction Worker with Wheelbarrow and the Rider with Horse.

The Playmobil 1.2.3 play system is divided into three learning stages which build on each other and promote the development of children specifically and playfully.

The Easy Start beginner sets include simple figures, with the learning focus on feeling and exploring, imitating animal sounds and naming figures, animals and objects.

First Challenge includes extended play sets, with the learning focus on exploring first functions, promoting fine motor skills and understanding cause and effect relationships.

Finally, Little Expert are advanced play sets with the learning focus on more complex contexts, social skills and first role-play.
