“I am hopeful that we will have a good Christmas”

PreschoolNews.net talks to Vicky Brown from Just Williams Toys about how trade has been through the summer.

“We have seen a steady increase in footfall over the summer,” Vicky Brown of family run toy shop, Just Williams, tells PreschoolNews.net.

“We are putting this down to less people going on holidays and more people shopping locally as they are working from home. We have had several customers tell us that due to the ever changing quarantine regulations, at the last minute they have cancelled holidays and, as a consolation, they have come to us for gifts/activities to amuse the kids instead.”

Arts and crafts have certainly been popular in both the East Dulwich and Beckenham stores, says Vicky. Play-Doh, kinetic sand, ‘My First’ sticker books and colouring books, along with garden games such as skittles ‘My First’ badminton sets and kites have been in demand throughout the summer.

However, Vicky has raised some concerns around what will happen now that children are going back to school and parents are heading back to the office.

“I am concerned that once schools go back, nurseries re-open and parents start going back to work in their offices, that sales may dip with shopping behaviours changing and parents having less time – we will keep our fingers crossed.”

Vicky is also hopeful that Just Williams will have a good Christmas.

“Fingers crossed, as less holidays are being booked and children’s activities curtailed, that parents can still have the ability to buy kids toys and games,” she concluded.
