PlanToys unveils Wonky Fruit and Vegetables play-set

Company teams with Dutch social enterprise Kromkommer on new range.

Plan Toys has joined forces with Dutch social enterprise Kromkommer to launch a new Wonky Fruit and Vegetables play-set.

Kromkommer – which was founded in 2012 – believes tat we should embrace all fruit and vegetables, regardless of looks. 1.3 billion tons of food per year is wasted and, for fruit and vegetables specifically, almost half of it will never reach our plate.

One of the main causes for this is the extreme focus on the aesthetic appearance of produce.

Kromkommer is on a mission to spread the love for ‘wonky’ produce, and the new tie-up with Plan Toys aims to show preschoolers and children the beauty and diversity of wonky fruit and vegetables.

Carl Carrot, Peter Pear, Adam Apple, Tammy Tomato Heart and Curly Cucumber are included in the play-set. Children can cut them with the wooden knife and then stick them back together.

The story of Carl Carrot is also included in the play-set.
