Fisher-Price issues warning over Rock ‘n Play Sleeper

Baby product company Fisher-Price has issued a public warning regarding a portable cot which has been linked to ten infant fatalities since 2015.

A joint alert was issued in partnership with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, warning parents to stop using the Rock ‘n Play Sleeper once babies begin to roll over.

The fatal accidents occurred when babies rolled from their backs to their stomachs or sides while unrestrained in the sleeper.

Fisher-Price issued a full statement on Friday 5 April, linking to its safe sleep guidelines and saying:

Fisher-Price has a long, proud tradition of prioritising safety as the cornerstone of our mission. Parents have trusted us for almost 90 years to provide safe products for their children.”

“In keeping with that trust, the Rock ‘n Play Sleeper meets all applicable safety standards…. That is why we also provide guidance about how to use our products on the front of the product packaging, in the product instructions, and on our website.”

“Fisher-Price takes the responsibility of being part of your family seriously and we are committed to earning that trust every day.”

The most recent incident took place just last month and the commission is currently investigating the product, although a recall has not been issued.
