Medela celebrates breastfeeding in art

Medela has announced the winner of its annual Breastfeeding in Art competition – a celebration of breastmilk and the unique bond between mother and child.

Bringing together mothers in the breastfeeding community, Medela was delighted to see the return of the competition for the second year. The winning entry, a digital self portrait, showed a breastfeeding woman climbing a mountain, and was created by artist Jessica Jaye, who will see her piece printed onto a limited edition mug.

The competition attracted entries from paintings, drawings, digital art and even poetry. Other highlights included a piece by Hana Price, which showed a woman sitting in a bed of flowers, breastfeeding, wearing a crown.

Medela continues to embrace its community and offer ways for them to celebrate breastfeeding, and keep the conversation going.

Marketing manager, Charlotte Price, commented: “We are so pleased to celebrate Breastfeeding in Art once again this year, supporting mums to slow down, do something they enjoy and demonstrate their feelings and experiences of breastfeeding in any art form. We loved the winning entry as it really showed that the hard work is worth it, even if you face challenges in your breastfeeding experience.

“We always want to support women in their journey, whether at the start, middle or the end, the Breastfeeding in Art competition really gives mums an opportunity to reflect and encapsulate those feelings creatively.”
