Retail Feedback: looking back at 2020

As we approach the final few weeks of 2020 and the start of a new year, PreschoolNews.net asked some independent retailers to share their thoughts on the last 12 months and how they are planning for the future. Here’s what they had to say…

Huggle has taken the opportunity to refocus the business fast track investment in online.

“2020 has been one of the most disruptive, unpredictable years that we can ever remember – and I have been in retail for 27 years!

It has been a year of unprecedented change as we all grappled with coronavirus and a multiude of ever-changing rules and regulations. Combine that with the potential Brexit no-deal looming and you can see why 2021 can only get better for everyone.

However it is going to take a mammoth effort on the part of us all – retailers and suppliers alike – to ensure that we work together to come through the other side.

For us personally, it has allowed us to refocus the business and given us the confidence to fast track our online investment. It has shown us what can be done when our team pulls together and given us an insight (if needed) into those suppliers who will go over and above to support the business and sector in general.

Here’s to hoping everyone gets through the next few months safe and sound and that we can all continue to work together to make the best of this all.”

“Here at Daisy Tree Baby Boutique we have been so lucky to have an incredible year. We were very lucky to have an online presence when we went into lockdown and that ensured that we could continue to trade.

It’s been a year of change and growth for Daisy Tree Baby Boutique.

Since lockdown we have moved the shop to a high street where the locals are very keen to shop local. To say we have been welcomed is an understatement. In the last month we have taken on an extra member of staff to facilitate the running of the shop, which is now five times busier than ever it was. We are looking forward to 2021 with hopeful optimism.”
