Read the latest issue of Progressive Preschool now

The March/April issue of Progressive Preschool is ready to read now online by clicking here, while its accompanying 44-page supplement – the fourth edition of our annual Ultimate Guide to Travel Systems & Car Seat Retailing, where you can check out the latest innovations in the sector – is also available to read here.

The past three months have been a whirlwind of trade show activity for the nursery and preschool industry – from London Toy Fair in January through to Toy Fair in New York which ended the spring travel season for many in early March.

Reports from all of the shows were, by and large, very positive and it seems like this vibe is continuing into the second quarter of the year. Speaking to executives from a wide range of sectors for our latest issue – from home décor and travel systems through to publishing, apparel and outdoor toys – it’s been encouraging to hear about their successes so far in 2025 and their confidence appears to be high as we look ahead to the summer months. Indeed, phrases coming through from our industry roundtable feature included “it’s been a fantastic start”, “we’ve got exciting innovations coming that will drive our growth,” and “it’s shaping up to be a year of opportunity.”

Meeting ever-evolving consumer demands and navigating a number of key challenges – from an uncertain global economic situation, presenting potential obstacles in terms of costs and supply chains, through to cost of living in the UK and balancing value and quality for the customer – also remain front of mind, however.

Having seen the innovation and new product development at the spring trade shows, the confidence of the contributors to this issue certainly doesn’t seem misplaced.

Show-wise, eyes now turn to Toymaster and Licensing Expo in May, while plans continue to be made for Kind + Jugend (with the BPIA’s UK Pavilion off to a strong start) and Harrogate International Nursery Fair, taking place in September and October respectively.

Happy reading!
