Kind und Jugend has suspended 2020 show

The international trade show for premium baby and toddler products, Kind und Jugend, has cancelled its 2020 show in light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and is looking forward to a positive and re-energised event in 2021.

The announcement came in the form of an email sent directly to prospective visitors, revealing that this year’s show will not be taking place for a number of reasons, including exhibitors’ concerns, economic difficulties and travel restrictions. Next year’s show will be taking place from 16-19 September, 2021.

The statement read:

“In spite of strong registration figures for Kind + Jugend in spring 2020, the current developments around Covid-19 and the economic situation came to be increasingly reflected in this trade fair’s situation. In recent weeks, more and more exhibitors began calling their participation in Kind + Jugend 2020 into question. The continuing crisis and the associated economic difficulties and concerns for employee health led to further hesitation amongst exhibitors and trade visitors alike. The latest news about new cases of infection in Germany played a role as well. The current travel situation is still uncertain, too – particularly at the intercontinental level. In spite of in-depth preparations and #B-SAFE4business, our comprehensive package of measures for the coronavirus-compliant implementation of trade fairs, a majority of exhibitors and visitors have decided not to attend this year’s events in Cologne.

This is why we reassessed the overall situation and decided to meet the cancellations and wishes of exhibitors and visitors from the industry, and to suspend this year’s edition of Kind + Jugend. This was a very difficult decision for us. Particularly leading trade fairs such as Kind + Jugend require a certain completeness where exhibitor and visitor attendance are concerned. Internationality at the European and global levels has an important role to play for this trade fair.

All tickets that have already been paid for will naturally be refunded. Koelnmesse will centrally issue these refunds in the coming weeks. There is nothing further for ticket buyers to do.

The next edition of Kind + Jugend will be held 16-19 September 2021.

For the international baby and children’s outfitting sector, the central business and networking platform of which is Kind + Jugend, suspension of the 2020 edition of this event will permit an important phase of redesign and realignment to bring fresh impetus to the market in autumn 2021, complete with new energy, new marketing strategies and new products. Kind + Jugend itself will actively facilitate this process while at the same time making intensive use the months leading up to the next trade fair to provide a tailor-made reflection of the needs of the sector in a trade fair and event format.

We want to join with you in bringing this industry back together and to the forefront. We want to make Kind + Jugend the worldwide retail and innovation platform that the industry needs. That also is why our slogan for the future is: Business moves!

We already look forward to welcoming you to the next edition of Kind + Jugend 2021, 16-19 September 2021 in Cologne.

Stay faithful to us and, moreover, healthy.

Your Kind + Jugend Team”
