Midlands Territory Account Manager

Reporting to: Sales Manager


Rainbow Designs was founded in 1971, initially specialising in the production and distribution of high-quality soft toys, nursery toys and products, wooden toys, gifts and books.

We have developed an impressive Character portfolio focusing on Children’s Classic Literary Characters and have expanded our portfolio of licenses into pre-school and movie characters.

With brands including; Paddington Bear, Peter Rabbit, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Snowman, Disney Baby, Classic Winnie the Pooh, Universal, Dreamworks, Miffy, Peppa Pig, Thomas the Tank Engine, That’s Not My, Spot, Guess How Much I Love You, Roald Dahl and Elmer, we are the go to company for Classic Characters.

We have a wide network of customers across Nursery, Toy and Gift retailers covering independent and online retailers, through to the mass market.

Due to an exciting period of growth we are now looking for a gregarious, enthusiastic individual to join our Independent Field Sales Team, to help us continue this success and grow with Rainbow Designs.


Key Responsibilities;

  • To service and develop existing accounts on the territory including independents, Key Accounts and wholesalers
  • Presentation of new products and ranges
  • Management of existing products in store, including identification of slow-moving lines
  • Establishment of contact frequency and method for each customer
  • Planning, presentation and implementation of any promotions
  • Order taking
  • Merchandising when required
  • Establishing a strong and trusting working relationship with customer
  • Establishing customer needs and requirements and communication of those to all departments internally
  • Pricing, quotes and account plans for Key Accounts
  • Terms negotiation for specific accounts
  • Identifying, calling and approaching new prospects accounts
  • Analysing customer sales and Forecasting stock on a monthly basis and gathering forecasting information from customers
  • Attending forecasting meetings
  • Attending trade shows as required, making sure that appointments are made and meetings are prepared for


The ideal Candidate:

  • Will have experience in dealing with different retail channels and sizes of retailers
  • Experience in selling Toys, Gifts, Nursery or Licensed consumer products
  • Will be able to manage their own time well
  • Will be target driven and growth focussed
  • Effective communication skills via face to face, telephone and email
  • Will have the ability to analyse sales and territory
  • Ability to produce sales reports
  • Able to build relationships with buyers and internal staff
  • Computer literate with skills in Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good negotiator
  • Organised
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Team player
  • Be flexible and on occasion able to work outside of defined territory
