Introducing Softies, a new DTR toy range from Widdop & Co

Family-run gift and homewares wholesaler Widdop & Co has launched a new range of cuddly plush toys, designed to offer retailers a dependable and timely solution as demand for soft toys continues to grow.

“Retailers are telling us they need partners they can count on,” says Dan Illingworth, md of Widdop & Co and co-founder of Softies. “We built our brand on dependability, and we’re ready to support the retailers who need it most right now.”

Launched this spring, the Softies range comprises a selection of high-quality plush animals and imaginative characters — from teddies to turtles, bunnies to foxes — each with its own unique personality bio. With low order minimums, efficient delivery and stock ready to ship from a trusted UK warehouse, Softies is designed to help retailers respond quickly to customer demand without compromising on quality.

Created by Dan and his brother Stephen Illingworth, Widdop & Co’s ceo, the Softie characters are all inspired by members of the Widdop team and their children, adding warmth and authenticity to the brand.

“As a family business, we’ve always focused on creating products that spark connection,” says Dan. “Softies brings that ethos to life in a fresh and playful way.”

With the UK dolls and stuffed toys market expected to reach £880 million by 2025 and grow steadily over the coming years, Softies is positioned to support independent shops, regional chains, and gift stores as they look to expand their offering with a trusted, scalable solution.
