Hippychick: Why we sponsor the Progressive Preschool Awards

Jeremy Minchin, joint md of Hippychick, explains why the company supports the Progressive Preschool Awards.

Why do you sponsor the Progressive Preschool Awards?
Jeremy: “We think it really important to have an occasion in the year that celebrates the best products and, just as importantly, the best people and providers in the industry. There are no other sector-relevant awards for shops to be recognised and they are hugely important in sustaining a strong and vibrant preschool community and industry.”

Why did Hippychick choose Best Independent Apparel Retailer of Preschool Products as the category it would like to sponsor?
Jeremy: “We don’t supply much in the way of apparel at this stage and felt it was appropriate not to be too closely involved as a supplier in the specific award we are sponsoring, but we wanted to be able to support and sponsor retailers, without whom there would be no business. It also enables us to learn a bit more about the best in an area that we may develop some product for in the future.”

What’s your favourite thing about the awards?
Jeremy: “The people – it is great fun seeing everyone having a day out and we all have so little time for relaxing with colleagues, connections and acquaintances, that it is a really important way to build a bit more of a relationship with customers and others in the sector.”

Why do you think companies and retailers working in the preschool space should attend the awards?
Jeremy: “I believe that it is really important to realise that you are part of a bigger community outside of your own small surroundings. Businesses can all help each other at times and we all depend on each other in one way, shape or form – we are on the same side in trying to deliver the best products in the best way to our customers. Work and business should be and can be fun as well as challenging. We have made some real breakthroughs in all areas of business as a result of meeting people at the awards over the years and also made some good friendships too.”

The winners of the Progressive Preschool Awards 2024 will be crowned at a glittering lunchtime ceremony on Tuesday 12 November at the Royal Lancaster London.
