Infant and nursery retailer Mothercare – which officially entered administration in November 2019 – has closed its website and confirmed the last of its UK stores will close for good by this Sunday 12 January, 2020.
The stores will be selling off all remaining stock at discounts of between 50% and 80% and has been emailing customers to help promote the last of its products.
The Mothercare website has now also been shut down, meaning that shoppers will only be able to find discounts in the remaining stores.
Mothercare had 79 UK stores when it ceased trading in early November and called in administrators to deal with the process. More than 2,500 jobs were lost, with just 50 UK head office staff remaining to deal with running the international business.
Mothercare had been struggling with poor sales for some time and had reported a £36.3million loss in its final year.
It has since agreed to enter into a franchise agreement with Boots, which will bring the Mothercare brand back to the UK high street.
