Barclays to back The Pud Store expansion

Independent childresnwear retailer The Pud Store will be expanding across the Midlands in the next few months as Barclays Bank agrees to fund two new stores.

There are currently two The Pud Stores, based in Doncaster and Newark, so the expansion will double the size of the company’s store portfolio.

The process began when the bank approached founder Frances Bishop to see if there were any expansion plans in place. The deal was finalised just four weeks late.

“To have such a big corporation back what you do and understand your vision is amazing,” said  Frances.”And it was quite flattering to be approached!”

The first new store to open will be based in Mansfield, which Frances says has ‘been on he rader for a while’. “We are hoping to open by September ready for the Christmas rush!,” she says. “After that we are looking at Lincoln which will hopefully open towards the back end of this year.”

The expansion plans don’t stop there either, explained Frances. “Barclays has made it clear that they are ready to support me through expansion and I’m going to give it my all. My vision has always been clear to make The Pud Store a larger brand and this is allowing me to do that.”
“This is everything and more to me,” adds Frances, explaining what the expansion will mean to her, personally. “For someone with no retail experience I think sometimes my ideas and philosophy have been overlooked but its so nice that people are sitting up and taking notice Like the Progressive Preschool Awards did when we won Best Independent Retailer last year!”
“I’ve always believed that Pud has the capability to be very scalable and become a market leader,” she says. “Everything I do, I do because of my son Oscar and the desire to give him the best in life. I hope this will allow me to do that even more.”
