Reusable nappy company Bambino Mio has joined a number of other suppliers, retailers and organisations to celebrate and promote Real Nappy Week, which is currently taking place and runs from 22 – 27 April 2019, although activity will continue until 5 May.
Real Nappy Week offers the industry the perfect opportunity to raise awareness and promote the benefits of reusable nappies, something that is particularly pertinent at the moment, against the backdrop of the ever-growing movement against single-use plastics and the legitimate concerns about climate change.
Wider use of reusable nappies would support the government’s objective to eliminate all avoidable plastic waste by 2042, as contained in its 25 Year Environment Plan.
Switching to reusable nappies will reduce the number of disposable nappies that end up in landfill, which is currently 8 million every day in the UK alone. By switching from disposable to reusable nappies, parents can also reduce their carbon footprint by 40% (source: Environment Agency).
“Real Nappy Week is a brilliant opportunity to inspire parents, brands and retailers alike to come together to help increase the awareness of reusable nappies,” said founder and managing director of Bambino Mio, Guy Schanschieff. “It’s a valuable chance to educate parents about the environmental, health and cost-saving benefits.”
He continued: “We encourage our Bambino Mio family to talk about their experience with reusable nappies so we can really support parents on their reusable nappy journey. Whether they want to commit to full time use or just opt for one reusable nappy a day, it still has a positive impact on our environment and parents can save money in the process.”
