Preschool industry entrepreneurs make television debut

New channel 4 show Buy It Now has been the target of a number of preschool brands, with both Doddl and Fill ‘n’ Squeeze making appearances on the first ever season.

A low-level version of Dragons’ Den, the programme involves ordinary shoppers, giving each entrepreneur just 90 seconds to sell their product to the studio audience.

If, after hearing the price, any of them is prepared to buy it with their own money, the product is then considered by a panel of three retailers – who may decide to take a gamble and place orders potentially worth thousands of pounds.

Cutlery brand Doddl was one of the first brands on the show and saw sisters Cat Dodd and Rosie Phelps-Goggin taking to the stage with fellow business partner Laura Thomas (and Rosie’s daughter, Gabriella, who was demonstrating the innovative cutlery).

“We had to condense all of Doddl’s research and innovative design into a short pitch, which forced us to focus,” said Rosie. “Little Gabriella’s demonstration on stage really brought to life the product’s benefits for busy families.”

Doddl’s episode aired last night (Monday 16 April) at 5:30pm and can be seen on catch-up television (we won’t spoil the result!). The Fill ‘n’ Squeeze episode will be airing on Tuesday 1 May.
